Date: 2026-10-12
Trust International Insurance Company - Palestine participated in the 35th General Conference of the General Arab Insurance Federation (35th GAIF), hosted in the Dead Sea region of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The conference saw wide participation from leaders and experts of the insurance and reinsurance sector from across the region and the world, under the theme: "Back to Basics."
Trust was represented at the conference by Mr. Anwar Al-Shanti, CEO of Trust International Insurance Group in Palestine; Mr. Nidal Khalil, Director of the Life Insurance Department; Mr. Azzam Ayyash, Director of the Reinsurance Department; and Mr. Jaafar Khawaja, Director of the Marketing Department. This participation reflected the company's keenness to keep pace with developments in the insurance industry and to strengthen its presence and professional relationships with Arab and international markets, as well as insurance and reinsurance companies.
The conference, which brought together more than 2,100 participants from 48 countries, provided a broad professional platform for exchanging expertise and discussing the transformations taking place in the insurance sector, in addition to holding bilateral meetings and exploring opportunities for cooperation and partnerships between insurance and reinsurance companies and entities operating in the sector.
Trust's participation through its specialized departments in life insurance and reinsurance allowed the company to observe modern trends in these fields, discuss business development opportunities, and expand its network of relations with markets and reinsurance companies. This supports its capacity to manage risks and develop insurance solutions that suit the nature and needs of the Palestinian market.
Trust's participation gains particular importance in light of the nature of the Palestinian market, making reinsurance, risk distribution, and building strong relationships with reinsurance markets essential elements in supporting underwriting capacity and business continuity.
Mr. Anwar Al-Shanti emphasized that Trust's participation in the 35th GAIF comes at a time when cooperation between the insurance and reinsurance sectors is becoming increasingly important to protect the Palestinian economy and enhance its resilience amidst continuous economic and financial pressures, including clearance revenues (Maqasa) and liquidity challenges, workers' wages, and Shekel fluctuations.
Al-Shanti added: "Under these circumstances, the role of insurance expands beyond protecting properties and businesses; it becomes part of safeguarding the economy itself. Every company that continues its operations, and every institution that maintains its investments and employees, contributes to the resilience of our national economy. Hence, we at Trust are keen to strengthen our partnerships and expertise in insurance and reinsurance, in a way that helps our business and clients face risks, endure, and contribute to supporting a more resilient Palestinian economy."
The conference events also provided an opportunity to look into the latest trends regarding digital transformation, artificial intelligence, emerging risks, catastrophe modeling, and the development of underwriting methods and risk transfer. These files are increasingly imposing themselves on the future of the global insurance industry and provide opportunities for companies to develop their products, tools, and operations.
Mr. Anwar Al-Shanti indicated that the 35th GAIF was held under the theme "Back to Basics" and the requirements for meeting digital transformation. He stressed that understanding actual and anticipated risks, along with developing the utilization of actuarial sciences, is one of the fundamentals that govern the steady development of the insurance sector and mitigate risks.
As part of his participation in the conference events, Mr. Anwar Al-Shanti led the presentation ceremony of the Ghazi Abu Nahl Insurance Research Award. He presented the second-place award to Mr. Slimani Si Takieddine Abderraouf from the Central Reinsurance Company (CCR) in Algeria, in recognition of the winning research paper within the conference activities.
Trust confirms that its participation in the 35th GAIF falls within its orientation to enhance communication with the insurance industry regionally and internationally, benefit from recent expertise and experiments, and build new professional relationships and partnerships that can contribute to developing the company's business and enhancing its ability to respond to the needs of the Palestinian market, in line with its role as an insurance partner for institutions, individuals, and economic sectors in Palestine.
